VP of Product Management
Jim Edwards began his career in the analytical sciences as a chemist and supervisor at a private contract laboratory, where his exposure to ‘the real world’ of instrumental chemical analysis and laboratory informatics has continually informed his later roles. He then began working for leading instrumentation companies in a variety of roles. This knowledge of both the theoretical and practical sides of instrumentation and informatics, plus his diverse range of experiences as both a user and a manufacturer, make him an excellent leader for the continued evolution of Indigo’s software products, working hand in hand with the software development team to ensure our software continues to meet industry standards and market needs.
Over his career, Jim has held multiple key management and leadership positions. While at Thermo Scientific, he held roles in marketing, sales, and business development; the majority of his time with the company was spent in software and hardware product and program management, along with software solution architecture. He has lead the conception, design and release of completely new platforms as well as the continuing engineering of existing and legacy products, and piloted the use of Agile practices and Lean approaches as a strategic and tactical change agent for small and large teams. Most recently, Jim served as a Global Product Manager with Bruker Daltonics, where he continued his focus on software management and solution architecture.
Jim received his B.S. in Chemistry from University of Wisconsin and his MBA from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. He has also completed graduate coursework in systems analysis and design, UI/UX design, and human-factors engineering.
