Celebrating five Indigo interns, meaningful work, and our continued partnership with TechPoint.
As August comes to an end, the Indigo BioAutomation team is taking time to celebrate the five students who joined us this summer as well as our continued partnership with TechPoint. Our 2026 intern class, Andrew Dile, Audrey Oxley, Jack Traversa, Jason Dong and Coleman Savino, made meaningful contributions across research and development, engineering, marketing and business development. All five became part of our team, solving real problems and learning alongside people invested in helping them grow.
That was intentional.
For us, internships are two-way exchanges. Students gain hands-on experience, contribute to meaningful work, build new capabilities, and experience being part of a team. The Indigo team gains new perspectives, sees important work completed, and grows as teachers and mentors.
“We want our interns doing work that matters,” said Tim Lancaster, President and COO of Indigo BioAutomation. “They bring curiosity, energy and a different perspective to our teams, and we want to give them the opportunity to really contribute. If they leave Indigo having learned from us as we’ve learned from them, that’s a pretty successful summer.”
Building Indiana’s technology talent together
That philosophy informs our multi-year participation in TechPoint’s Xtern program. TechPoint launched Xtern in 2014 to help build Indiana’s technology talent pipeline by connecting talented college students with meaningful work at Indiana companies and helping
those students experience Indiana as a place where they could build a career. What began with 50 students has grown into one of TechPoint’s signature talent programs. In 2026, more than 100 students joined organizations across Indiana for a 10-week experience combining full-time paid internships with professional development, networking, civic engagement and community building. More than a third of this year’s Xtern class came from outside Indiana.
A summer worth celebrating
This summer, Andrew, Audrey, Jack, Jason and Coleman became part of teams across Indigo. They learned an unfamiliar and complex industry, took on new problems, asked thoughtful questions, and brought ideas and perspectives of their own to the work.
As ten weeks came to an end, TechPoint’s 2026 Xtern Awards & Celebration provided one more opportunity to celebrate the experience. We were honored to see nominations across Indigo: Andrew Dile – Grit; Audrey Oxley – Gratitude; Jack Traversa – Gratitude; Jason Dong – Growth; Bob Burger – Mentor of the Year; and Indigo BioAutomation – Employer of the Year.
Bob’s Mentor of the Year nomination, submitted by Andrew and Jack, is especially meaningful as it reflects the commitment our team brings to this program. Over the years, Bob has been one of our leaders in taking a personal interest, generously sharing his time and expertise, providing meaningful encouragement and feedback, and continuing to stay connected long after their time with us has ended.
“This nomination comes to no surprise to any of us. I think we as colleagues have seen Bob take over this program from Tim, and just mentor, guide, and help our interns throughout the summer for a number of years. I can think of nobody more deserving of the award.”
This year we also celebrated Audrey as the 2026 Xtern Gratitude Award winner. In her nomination, Audrey’s mentor, Lucy Olmstead, highlighted the enthusiasm, curiosity and appreciation Audrey brought to an entirely new industry and the determination she had to understanding not only the work she was doing, but also why it mattered to the laboratories we serve.

Investing in what comes next
The importance of investing in people only grows as science, technology, and regulatory expectations evolve. As testing becomes more complex, patient, result, and operational data grows, and new technologies create new possibilities and challenges, progress depends on
